WHAT MATERIAL (ELASTOMER) TO BE USED FOR GASKET ?

  • Silicone: Platinum cured silicone is the material of choice in sanitary water systems when PTFE is not feasible due to severely misaligned fittings, or if the cost of high pressure clamps does not outweigh the benefits of PTFE (extended service life).
  • FKM, Fluorosilicone and EPDM compounds are specified by many of our process equipment manufacturers. They are generally suitable for these applications, however, service life must be considered and a preventative maintenance program be implemented to mitigate degradation. They are not recommended for continuous use in SIP procedures.
  • PTFE is the material of choice whenever low temperature flexibility or hygienic seal memory is not required (not recommended where large temperature variations occur frequently, leakage can occur).

IF YOU REQUIRE DOOR SEAL FOR YOUR AUTOCLAVABLE OR STERILIZER, PLEASE PROVIDE US WITH THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:

  • If possible, a sample of the TC gasket required.
  • A dimensional drawing showing the gasket you require (including Elastomer,Type, ID, OD, Bead Center & Bead Outside ).
  • Quantity required.

FAQ

Silicone rubber is an elastomer composed of silicone(present in silica) together with carbon, oxygen and hydrogen.

IN 1930, JAMES FRANKLIN HYDE RAN THE FIRST RESEARCH TO PRODUCE COMMERCIAL SILICONES.

Silicon is an element which is present in silica (sand) while silicone rubber is manufactured by extracting silicon from silica and passing it through hydrocarbons. It's then mixed with the other chemicals to create silicone.

A silicone or polysiloxane is a polymer made up of siloxane (−R2Si−O−SiR2−, where R = organic group).
